We're equipped to meet the demand for pre-production parts, which emulate production parts in quality and engineering functionality. In situations such as standards testing, where a "pilot" component must perform to the same criteria as the production part, Dorval Technologies can deliver a short-run "hybrid" injection mold capable of running a few hundred parts in end-use thermoplastic.

We create core and cavity inserts by casting high-performance, aluminum-charged epoxy against an SLA master, and building in venting and cooling lines. The inserts are then installed within an existing steel mold base and run on a standard injection press. Thermoplastics which can be run in medium volume through our hybrid molds include polypropylene and ABS. Polycarbonate and glass-filled nylon can be run with a reduced yield in the number of parts.

No matter how complex and sophisticated your design, within three weeks of receiving your 3D CAD model, we are able to deliver "pilot" quality parts to your doorstep.

Does your company need "pilot" parts in drawn or stamped metal? Dorval Technologies has the expertise to create rapid punch and die sets for drawn or stamped components, even when the parts incorporate intricate detail. Our rapid dies are good for thousands of parts in cold-rolled steel (wall thickness up to 0.047").

Starting with polyurethane-laminate board stock, we CNC mill the punch. The post and ring are created by casting a high-performance resin against the punch and subsequently removing the wall thickness of the part from the post. Minimal finishing operations are required on the die set, and a high level of surface and detail accuracy can be achieved on the part.

Rapid punch and die sets are designed for use on standard metal presses. The turnaround time on a rapid die set is less than one month.
